Custom builder Wayne Homes sponsored the 26th Annual Akron Rotary Chili Open Golf Classic held in Bath, OH.
Uniontown, OH – The 26th Annual Akron Rotary Chili Open Golf Classic, sponsored by Wayne Homes, was held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Hale Farm and Village in Bath, OH. The Chili Open is an event that raises funds to send children and adults with developmental disabilities to summer camp each year.
“It’s a privilege to be a part of this organization,” states George Murphy, President & CEO of Wayne Homes. “We’ve been part of the Chili Open team for over a decade and hope to do so for another decade.”
Over 550 supporters, including 133 Wayne Homes employees and their families, attended The Chili Open. The day consisted of a silent auction, door prizes, raffle tickets, and of course golf! Attendees also enjoyed Whitey’s Chili, the official chili of the Chili Open, who donated 650 pounds for this year’s event.
“Each year Akron Rotary Camp provides summer camp and year round respite for nearly 2000 children and adults with disabilities. We are able to offer these opportunities in large part due to the dedication of our mission partners like Wayne Homes. We are so thankful for the dedication and commitment Wayne Homes shares for our campers and their families. Together, we are creating a world where there are only abilities!”, stated Dan Reynolds, Executive Director of Camping Services, Akron Rotary Camp.
This year, the Akron Rotary Chili Open Golf Classic raised $225,000 and will be sending over 1,900 children and young adults to camp this summer!
