<item><title>Wayne Homes&#8217; newest floorplan combines affordable with lovable</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=1425</link><description>There&amp;rsquo;s an easy way to design an affordable home and a not-so-easy way. The easy (and typical) way is to reduce the quality and style of the home. The not-so-easy way is to pour in more thoughtfulness: to make the available space work harder and live better. With their new two-story floorplan, the Chelsea, Wayne Homes took the hard way.
&amp;ldquo;Our first priority is always to create a home that lives well,&amp;rdquo; says Maurie Jones, vice president of marketing for Wayne Homes. &amp;ldquo;That&amp;rsquo;s what we&amp;rsquo;re known for, and that&amp;rsquo;s what we did with the Chelsea.&amp;rdquo;
Working with a little over 1,800 square feet, Wayne Homes was somehow able to give the Chelsea three bedrooms (one of which is a very nice master suite), two and a half baths, a home office, an island kitchen, an upstairs loft, a great room, dining room and a full laundry room. All this for a price in the low $100s.
&amp;ldquo;And the numbers are just the beginning of the story,&amp;rdquo; Jones explains. &amp;ldquo;The great thing about the Chelsea is how well the space works &amp;mdash; and how open and elegant it feels.&amp;rdquo; The great room, for example, has a two-story ceiling. This not only makes the great room feel bright and spacious, it creates an inspiring view for the upstairs loft. The foyer also has a two-story ceiling. And a little space upstairs, bordered on two sides by a half-wall that overlooks the stairway and foyer, serves as a sort of vestibule to the master suite. &amp;ldquo;It&amp;rsquo;s very dramatic,&amp;rdquo; Jones says.
As with all the homes built by Wayne, the Chelsea is covered by a set of industry-leading warranties and guarantees. There&amp;rsquo;s the Energy Smart Guarantee, which ensures that each Wayne home meets a high level of energy efficiency. And the Guaranteed Completion Date, which says the home will be completed within 120 days after the foundation is poured. And Wayne&amp;rsquo;s two-year Fit and Finish Warranty is twice as long as what other builders offer.
It appears that Wayne has created another winner. The first Chelsea sold just two days after the floorplan was released and several more will likely sell within the month. &amp;ldquo;We work hard to make our homes easy to buy,&amp;rdquo; says Jones. &amp;ldquo;But the main point is to make them easy to love.&amp;rdquo;

<item><title>Wayne Homes gathers friends and neighbors to help tornado victims</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=1314</link><description>Cygnet, OH --- Using a combination of tasty summer foods, prizes and perseverance, the employees of Wayne Homes raised over $2,000 to help the victims of the tornado that devastated parts of northwest Ohio on June 6. The fund-raising began as an initiative within the company. But it quickly turned into a community-wide effort.
&amp;ldquo;Our corporate office in Uniontown was amazing,&amp;rdquo; says Tom Sear, sales manager for the Wayne Homes office in Bowling Green. &amp;ldquo;They raised over $1,000 themselves. But since the Bowling Green office is closest to where the tornado hit, we felt we needed&amp;nbsp; to host a public event.&amp;rdquo;
So that&amp;rsquo;s exactly what they did. On July 9, Sear and his staff hosted the &amp;ldquo;Raffle for Relief&amp;rdquo; at the Wayne Homes model center on Dixie Highway. They had the barbecues fired up, the bouncing castles and balloons fully inflated, and the prizes piled up by the dozen.
&amp;ldquo;We went out and canvassed the whole area for prize donations,&amp;rdquo; says Jeanie Thomas, the construction manager at the Wayne Homes Bowling Green office and the project leader for the raffle event. &amp;ldquo;We talked to our trade partners and all sorts of local businesses. The response was just huge.&amp;rdquo;
Companies who donated prizes and/or money included: 84 Lumber, AE Electric, Ballriechs Potato Chips, Costco, Dible Plumbing, Dietsch&apos;s Ice Cream, Easy Street Caf&amp;eacute;, Fiddlestix, Giant Eagle, Gordon Lumber, Hazelton Salon, Kelly&apos;s Chevrolet, Maggie Moos, McDonalds, Mr. Spots, Nellie Bagels, Northwest Masonry, Qdoba, Starbucks and Walmart.
All those prizes resulted in a lot of winners. &amp;ldquo;We had so many prizes, it seemed as if almost everybody who came out won something,&amp;rdquo; Sear says. &amp;ldquo;Some people had two or three prizes.&amp;rdquo;
But in the end, it was the people of northwest Ohio who won. The money that was raised by Wayne Homes is going to a scholarship fund and to the Red Cross to benefit the victims of the tornado.
&amp;ldquo;It took a big effort to pull this off,&amp;rdquo; Sear explains. &amp;ldquo;Jeanie Thomas did a great job spearheading the whole thing, and everyone pitched in. In fact, we&amp;rsquo;d like to do it again next year, maybe even bigger.
&amp;ldquo;It takes awhile for a community to heal after a tragedy like this. And we&amp;rsquo;re here for the long term.&amp;rdquo;

<item><title>Fast-moving sales manger moves to Wayne Homes in Bowling Green.</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=1265</link><description>This is what is known as &amp;ldquo;going places.&amp;rdquo; After just a few months at Wayne Homes, Tom Sear has been named the new Sales Manger for the company&amp;rsquo;s Bowling Green office.

Sear first joined Wayne Homes as Sales Manager for the Sandusky office in late 2009. Within a few months, he had helped his Sandusky team achieve ambitious goals for sales and customer satisfaction and had opened up new relationships with local real estate developers and brokers.

Of course, it&amp;rsquo;s not like he was new to the business. He came to Wayne Homes with a strong resume. In fact, he brought 15 years&amp;rsquo; experience in the homebuilding industry, as well as extensive involvement with professional organizations such as the North Coast Building Industry Association.&amp;ldquo;I&amp;rsquo;ve always had a very customer-oriented approach to homebuilding,&amp;rdquo; Sear says. &amp;ldquo;But being at Wayne Homes has allowed me to take that even further.&amp;rdquo;

June 14 was Sear&amp;rsquo;s first day at the Wayne Homes model center in Bowling Green. But he&amp;rsquo;s still in the process of relocating his family &amp;mdash; including&amp;nbsp; wife Jonelle, sons Tommy, Ethan and Elliot, as well as a dog, cat, two turtles and two frogs &amp;mdash; to the Toledo area.

&amp;ldquo;Yes, I&amp;rsquo;m pretty busy at home and at work,&amp;rdquo; Sears says. &amp;ldquo;But that&amp;rsquo;s the way I like it.&amp;rdquo;

<item><title>Wayne Homes receives Energy Star&#xae; leadership award</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=1227</link><description>Back in 1997, Wayne Homes became one of&amp;nbsp; the first homebuilders in Ohio to become an Energy Star&amp;reg; Partner. So it&amp;rsquo;s no surprise that Wayne Homes received, once again, the Energy Star&amp;reg;&amp;nbsp;Leadership in Housing Award for 2009.
With some kinds of awards, it&amp;rsquo;s difficult to know exactly what was accomplished and who really benefited. But the Leadership in Housing Award can be measured in all sorts of ways. And the benefits, to Wayne&amp;rsquo;s homeowners and others, are numerous. Wayne Homes received the award because the company has built more than 200 Energy Star&amp;reg; qualified homes. An Energy Star&amp;reg;&amp;nbsp;qualified home is designed and built to use significantly less energy than a typical new home built to state code. How much less? Well, if you were to add up the savings from all the Wayne homes built in 2009, it would be the equivalent of:

    Eliminating the exhaust emissions from 59.78 vehicles
    Reducing the amount of coal burned by 361,608 pounds
    Planting 98.82 acres of trees

And of course saving energy means saving money. With just the homes that Wayne built in 2009, the company saved its customers an estimated total of $54,534 in annual utility bills. That doesn&amp;rsquo;t include the $2,000 energy tax credit that Wayne Homes receives from the federal government and then passes directly to their customers.
&amp;ldquo;And with our Energy Smart Guarantee, we even go beyond the Energy Star&amp;reg;&amp;nbsp;program,&amp;rdquo; says Dennis Gregory, regional construction coordinator for Wayne Homes. The Wayne Homes Energy Smart Guarantee promises customers that their new Wayne Home will use only a certain amount of energy in the first two years. If the home uses more than that amount, Wayne Homes will pay the difference.
These days, what could be smarter than that?
