<item><title>Wayne Homes wins, wins, wins again at homebuilding award show.</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=2487</link><description>Uniontown, OH &amp;ndash; The Home Builder Association Awards for Ohio&amp;rsquo;s Summit and Portage counties were held February 16 and, once again, Wayne Homes held its own.

Dana Cross was named Sales Manager of the Year for her work in Wayne&amp;rsquo;s Akron Medina Model Home Center and Tim Morian, Wayne&amp;rsquo;s Portage-based Field Manager, won the Golden Hammer. Which marks the third year in a row the award has gone to a field manager from the Portage office.

&amp;ldquo;Pretty incredible,&amp;rdquo; is how Alan Longstreth, Wayne&amp;rsquo;s Portage Construction Manager describes the phenomenon. Three field managers, three consecutive awards. &amp;ldquo;I&amp;rsquo;m very proud of them.&amp;rdquo;

Yet in an office of deep field manager talent Morian distinguished himself. And it was all about customer service.

&amp;ldquo;All the way through the construction process, Tim was on top of keeping us informed about the progress and resolving any issues,&amp;rdquo; Wayne customers Carissa and Thomas Wilcox wrote in a letter submitted to the HBA. The letter went on to say, in addition to Morian being one of the reasons the couple chose Wayne as their builder, that &amp;ldquo;by the end of the process he felt like a friend and we were sad to see him go.&amp;rdquo;

Perhaps more telling than what Morian&amp;rsquo;s customers said about him was what he was quoted saying to one of his customers: &amp;ldquo;Don&amp;rsquo;t worry.&amp;rdquo;

&amp;ldquo;From that day until the day we had the final walkthrough, Tim always had a smile and maintained a can-do attitude,&amp;rdquo; says Wayne customer John Donehoo in another letter.

Morian&amp;rsquo;s ability to put his customers at ease, make them feel like they&amp;rsquo;re part of the team and manage the entire process are characteristics he shares with Sales Manager of the Year, Dana Cross.

&amp;ldquo;Even when we were done with the sales part of our transaction,&amp;rdquo; Wayne homebuyer Linda Dupalga writes. &amp;ldquo;Dana would periodically call to see if everything was going well.&amp;rdquo;

&amp;ldquo;I still talk to her,&amp;rdquo; Dupalga goes on to say. &amp;ldquo;She is a great person and she is a great asset to the Wayne Homes Family.&amp;rdquo; A sentiment echoed by everyone at Wayne and, now, across two counties.

Wayne Homes also picked up awards for top New Home Sales Performers, based on 2011 closings. Catherine Pergins won Platinum. Gloria Williams was not far behind with the Gold. Followed by Gregg Brown with the Silver.

Finally, Wayne&amp;rsquo;s trophy case will now also house marketing awards including: Best Social Media, Best Email Newsletter and Best Website, WayneHomes.com.

<item><title> Wayne Homes nabs two big awards at International Builder Show.</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=2471</link><description>Uniontown, OH &amp;ndash; Local on-your-lot homebuilder Wayne Homes picked up the Builder Partnerships Achievement Awards (BPAA) for Highest Distinction in Customer Satisfaction and the National Association of Home Builders&amp;rsquo; Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE). Both awards were handed out February 7, at the International Builder Show in Orlando, Florida.

&amp;ldquo;Customer service is what makes us who we are. It&amp;rsquo;s kind of our thing,&amp;rdquo; says Mike Leckie-Ewing, Wayne Homes Vice President Organizational Development. &amp;ldquo;We go out of our way to make sure every customer is satisfied. So it&amp;rsquo;s extremely gratifying to be recognized for our efforts.&amp;rdquo;

The BPAA, one of the homebuilding industry&amp;rsquo;s most prestigious awards, means at least 93% of Wayne homebuyers would recommend them and enthusiastically refer a friend or family member to Wayne Homes.

The BPAA is an independent organization that measures customer satisfaction, lending credibility to claims of customer-centric service. &amp;ldquo;Customer service is a big part of who we are at Wayne,&amp;rdquo; says Leckie-Ewing. &amp;ldquo;It&amp;rsquo;s nice to have third-party confirmation on something we&amp;rsquo;ve been hearing from our customers for years.&amp;rdquo;

The co-first place SAFE award Wayne Homes earned represents the homebuilder&amp;rsquo;s commitment to maintaining accident-free jobsites. &amp;ldquo;It&amp;rsquo;s something our customers probably take for granted but we take safety very seriously,&amp;rdquo; says George Murphy, Wayne Homes Vice President of Construction.&amp;nbsp; &amp;ldquo;Ultimately it&amp;rsquo;s about being careful. When you&amp;rsquo;re careful, you not only have fewer accidents you build better homes.&amp;rdquo;

The criteria for winning the SAFE award, in this case for a Single Family Homebuilder with more than 100 homes and fewer than 500 homes annually, includes: general safety and adherence to OSHA regulations; providing fall protection and personal protective equipment; ensuring electrical safety; monitoring excavation and trenching; ensuring safe stairways, ladders and scaffolding; regularly inspecting tools and equipment; implementing hazard communication; and enforcing the use of safety cards.

&amp;ldquo;We&amp;rsquo;re proud of our safety record and proud of this award,&amp;rdquo; Murphy says. &amp;ldquo;It&amp;rsquo;s something you win only when everyone on staff is doing their part. So everyone deserves to share in the recognition.&amp;rdquo;

<item><title>Drive-by giving — drives Wayne Homes&#8217; annual charity.</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=2440</link><description>Uniontown, OH &amp;ndash; Each year during the holidays, Wayne Homes organizes a charity drive called Not-So-Random-Acts of Kindness to benefit local non-profits. This year, as usual, the program made it easy for people to participate in the simple joy of giving. This, in turn, resulted in charitable organizations across the state receiving much-needed money and supplies.

Wayne Model Home Centers throughout Ohio and in Pittsburgh were used as drop-off locations, where Wayne customers, trade partners, and members of the community could get into the act. They were encouraged to bring toys, non-perishable food, gently-used clothing and grooming supplies to the easy-in, easy-out drive-by operation.

&amp;ldquo;Instead of writing one corporate check, the goal is to try to get a lot of people to contribute to a variety of causes,&amp;rdquo; says Maurie Jones, Wayne Homes Vice President of Marketing &amp;ldquo;Some charities receive money, some get actual gifts.&amp;rdquo;

Through drop-offs, Wayne employees and families collected over $3,400. Not bad for a five-week drive.

The Salvation Army and Haven of Rest each received $500 with $1,000 going to OPEN M &amp;ndash; the Opportunity for People Everywhere in Need Ministry. The rest of the &amp;ldquo;drive-by&amp;rdquo; money was used to purchase Christmas presents for a dozen children in the Doylestown United Methodist Church&amp;rsquo;s Share a Christmas program.

Then, for every home sold during the holidays Wayne Homes donated $100 to a charity of the homebuyer&amp;rsquo;s choosing. Again, easy-peasy. $3,700 was raised and 24 deserving local charities were the recipients.

&amp;ldquo;Our customers contributed thousands for local charities,&amp;rdquo; says Jones. &amp;ldquo;Just by doing something they were going to do anyway. Who wouldn&amp;rsquo;t feel good about that?&amp;rdquo;

At Wayne Homes, giving doesn&amp;rsquo;t stop with Not-So-Random-Acts of Kindness. Charity is an idea that is woven into the homebuilder&amp;rsquo;s company culture. Employees are given paid time off to volunteer in their communities. And more charity events take place throughout the year.

In fact, next month Wayne is hosting the Chili Open, a winter golf tournament played in the cold and snow. Last year over 400 competitors turned out for the annual event, raising enough money to send 1,700 special needs kids to summer camp.

&amp;ldquo;That&amp;rsquo;s what it&amp;rsquo;s really all about,&amp;rdquo; Jones adds. &amp;ldquo;Always finding new ways to give back to the community and have some fun doing it.&amp;rdquo;

<item><title>Listening, lessons continue as homebuilder continues to build better homes.</title><link>http://waynehomes.com/locations/news-events/press-releases/?i=2390</link><description>Uniontown, OH &amp;ndash; Listening to customers is part of the culture at Wayne Homes. It allows the on-your-lot homebuilder to customize any of their home designs specifically to a customer&amp;rsquo;s needs. It turns out, they&amp;rsquo;re not just listening, they&amp;rsquo;re redesigning entire homes according to what they hear from their customers.

Case in point, the Saratoga. The four-bed, two-and-a-half bath, two-story floor plan is a longtime customer favorite. Now, it&amp;rsquo;s not only bigger by more than a couple hundred square feet at 2,770, it is brighter and airier.

&amp;ldquo;Wayne customers have, well, other Wayne customers to thank for the new design,&amp;rdquo; says Maurie Jones, Wayne Homes&amp;rsquo; Vice President of Marketing. &amp;ldquo;Their suggestions made a very good home even better.&amp;rdquo;

Homebuyers tore down walls, figuratively speaking, and opened things up. The new floor plan does this by default. The second floor overlooks both the two-story foyer and the now-bigger great room. Meanwhile, the great room opens to the breakfast room and new larger kitchen with oversized island, more cabinet space, walk-in pantry, work desk, and great room serving area.

The powder room has been moved to a more central location, the living room can be optioned into a den, the laundry room is more functional, all the bedrooms are larger, including the master, which has a bigger walk-in closet. Even the garage is bigger, with more space for storage or a workshop.

&amp;ldquo;That&amp;rsquo;s just a sampling of the many Saratoga changes,&amp;rdquo; Jones says. &amp;ldquo;What hasn&amp;rsquo;t changed is the fact that customers can take the design and continue to tweak it even further and make it their own.&amp;rdquo;
