Wayne Homes recognized in Beacon's Best as area's best homebuilder.

October 17, 2011

Uniontown, OH – Readers of the Akron-Beacon Journal and Ohio.com have spoken. And although Wayne Homes has won numerous awards over the years, this one is special.

Wayne Homes was named Beacon’s Best homebuilder. But the award wasn’t presented by some anonymous group of industry judges. It was the people of Ohio themselves who chose Wayne Homes.

Never one to brag about anything but great customer service, quality construction and going out of their way to customize any home in their portfolio, Beacon’s Best is certain to give Wayne something else to talk about.

“We work hard every day,” says Tracy Gershom, Wayne’s VP of Sales. “We’re up early and home late and you hope people notice.”

“Never did we expect to win this award but I’ve got to say it feels pretty good,” she adds.

Going to the readers directly for both the nominations and vote distinguishes this award. To let the people who live in the area decide the winners is practically democratic.

“You know a lot of voters are probably our customers,” Gershom says. “But it comes down to our reputation in the community and we try to be good citizens. Because you never know who your next customer might be.”

“Going for awards is not why we do what we do, it’s just a byproduct of what we do. So to run around and enter awards isn’t something we spend a lot of time on. But it doesn’t hurt, though, especially to win something like this,” Gershom adds. “It’s really not what you say about yourself that matters in business. It’s what others say about you.”
