Top Design Trends of 2022

It’s a new year, and it’s a great time to take a look at your home and decide what you love (or don’t love) about it. The new year is all about change, and while change feels good, sometimes you need a little inspiration to kick it into gear.

Lucky for you, we consulted with the Wayne Homes design team to find out straight from the experts what the top home trends are for 2022. We know there’s a lot to choose from when it comes to interior design trends, so we wanted to narrow it down to the best design trends for 2022. We’ve chosen to highlight home decor trends that are definitely on point, but also retain some timeless charm that will make them a hit in 2022 and for years to come.

Here are the Top Design Trends of 2022

Black Accents:

Black-entertainment-center

There’s no doubt that classic white walls really pop with black accents. We are seeing everything from black cabinets to black-painted fireplaces and everything in between. Black and almost black accents really bring the drama. Wanna go really bold? Paint a study or accent wall a deep gray/almost black. You’ll be surprised how much depth black accents add to your home.

Natural Materials:

With all of the black and white homes we are seeing lately, natural materials add much-needed warmth to the home. Think wood side tables, caned dining chairs, sisal rugs, and wood frames. The warm, neutral tones are the perfect counterbalance to stark black and white.

Lots of Texture:

Nothing says cozy like textures. Especially monochromatic textures. Try layering rugs or piling on the throw pillows in various shades of cream or neutrals. The varying textures will beg guests to reach out and touch them, inviting friends and family to cozy up and stay awhile.

Versatile Spaces:

home office

Like 2021, there is a large population of the workforce that now works from home. This has required homes to have more flex spaces that can allow for home offices, study spaces, playrooms and more. Loft areas and dens are more in demand than ever, and many homeowners are forgoing an extra bedroom or formal dining space in lieu of a versatile, multi-use space.

The design team at Wayne Homes recently updated two of our model homes to reflect the newest home design trends.

Ashland Alexandria

The Alexandria at Ashland’s coolest new focal point are the wood beams in the entryway ceiling. You can’t help but look up and say “wow” when you see them. This echoes the natural material trend we mentioned earlier. A dark accent wall makes the den/office pop, while the black-painted entry door really shows off the drama these dark tones bring. Textures can be seen in the kitchen with the natural texture of the large pendant lights.

Akron-Medina McAllister

Kitchen

The McAllister also highlights natural materials with a large wood beam that runs the length of the great room. Monochromatic textures abound in the great room with different shades of greige. Finally, the weathered barn beam mantle on the fireplace brings together both the texture and natural materials trends to really make the space special.

Whether you use these trends to update your existing home, or use them to put together inspiration for your new Wayne home, these 2022 design trends will stand the test of time.
