The 2024 Chili Open Was a Huge Success!
At Wayne Homes, we love hosting events that keep us close to the communities we serve. And, it’s even better when the events help support those same communities. That’s why the Chili Open is the perfect event for Wayne Homes to sponsor, and this year’s was another one for the books.
The Chili Open is an annual event to support the Akron Rotary Camp which is a camp for children with special needs.
They offer day, overnight, and year-round respite camp programs. Wayne Homes has been a sponsor of the Chili Open since 1993 and became the presenting sponsor of the Chili Open in 2002. A complete list of 2024 sponsors can be found here.
The 34th annual Chili Open was held on Saturday, February 3rd at Hale Farm and Village.
The Chili Open includes a unique winter 9-hole golf experience, putt-putt and hole-in-one challenges, a chili eating contest, food, and beverages.
Chili was provided by Whitey’s Premium Chili and kept everyone warm with their tasty food. Raffle tickets were sold at the Chili Open for a chance to win:
- 1st place prize – 2024 Kia K5 courtesy of The VanDevere Bunch
- 2nd place prize – $2500 Flooring Credit courtesy of Barrington Carpet & Flooring Design
- 3rd place prize – LG 55″ 4k Smart LED TV courtesy of the S Group, Inc
Wayne Homes donated three dozen decorated cut-out cookies to the online auction. Many organizations sponsor “camperships” which cover the cost of camp for a child. Wayne Homes sponsors two camperships each year – one in memory of Todd Michaels, our Controller who passed away in January 2022 and the other in memory of Scott Warner, our Director of Purchasing who passed away in April 2022.
Leading up to the event, the Chili Open was promoted on local radio. Tracy Gershom, Wayne Homes’ COO, went on the radio to help with promoting it and ensuring the event’s success. About 75 people from Wayne Homes registered to attend this year’s event, and it definitely was a hit.
The 2024 Chili Open raised over $380,000!
