Toys for Tots Raises Nearly $9,000

At Wayne Homes, one of our company hallmarks is giving back.

Here at Wayne, it’s important to us to give back to our community. In total, our team raised $8,770.00 for Toys for Tots, which doesn’t even include the toys that were donated!

We love being a part of our communities, and we always look for ways to connect and support the communities we serve. The holidays are a season of giving, and in that spirit, we once again participated in the Toys for Tots program.

The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.

Started in 1947 as the brainchild of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, he and his wife Diane delivered handmade dolls to children in need. Now, Toys for Tots has grown to deliver an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually. Participating in the annual Toys for Tots Drive has quickly become one of our favorite fundraisers.

This year we were able to raise nearly $9,000 for area kids through the toy drive and fundraiser.

Between December 1 and December 10, 2020, the Wayne Homes team collected toys and monetary donations for Toys for Tots. Participation was company-wide.

This was our second year supporting the Toys for Tots organization. Last year, we had customers donate toys at each of our Model Centers and hosted a toy drive at our home office. However, like everything in 2020, we were not able to do that this year due to Covid-19 concerns.

In total, our team raised $8,770.00 for Toys for Tots and that doesn’t even include the toys that were donated as well. The tree at our home office was overflowing with toys underneath. Our hearts were full of pride seeing the effort everyone put in to make these kids’ holidays brighter. Even during the toughest times, our team and our communities came together to bring some joy to the lives of others.
