Two Months In: The Deeks Family is Living the Dream 

Earlier this year, we were excited to introduce you to the wonderful Deeks family as they embarked on their custom homebuilding journey with Wayne Homes. They were full of anticipation, having finalized the plans for a beautiful and functional home perfectly tailored to their family’s needs. Now, we’ve returned to catch up with the Deeks family a couple of months after they received the keys and settled in. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing our designs become the backdrop for real life, and their home is already brimming with activity, laughter, and that unique, unmistakable feeling of being perfectly home.

The Reality is Better Than the Dream

When we sat down with the Deeks, the first thing they mentioned was how seamless the transition from planning to living had been. Building a custom home is a significant undertaking, but it all becomes worth it the moment you’re standing in the space you designed, realizing the dream has become a comfortable, functioning reality.

“We were able to take our time moving,” Kari Deeks shared. “We were renting from Jacob’s sister, so we kind of took our time getting some of the essentials over here, but then we hired movers to get all the big stuff over. It was fantastic. 10 out of 10 recommend!” The Deeks’ moving experience was as seamless as settling into the home has been. 

Because they spent so much time during the planning process ensuring every detail was exactly right—from layout to tile choices—there were no surprises post-move. They fell in love with the Charleston II, then it was full steam ahead! As every Wayne homeowner does, they used our customization options to make the floor plan uniquely theirs. As they’ve unpacked and decorated, they feel so happy the design choices they made were the right ones for their lifestyle.

The Features That Truly Shine

While the entire house has been a hit, certain areas have quickly become the family’s favorite spots. For many Wayne Homes customers, the kitchen is the hub, and the Deeks family is no exception.

Kari gushed, “It’s the kitchen for me. My cabinets. We’ve never had huge cabinets before. We actually have so much storage we don’t even know what to do with it!” Not a bad problem to have! Kari said the height of the ceilings made a big impact on the home. Not only did they allow the Deeks family to design a kitchen with larger cabinets, they just add to the grandeur of the home. 

Space is an ongoing theme with the Deeks’ home. They’ve got so much of it! From their pantry to the owner suite, there is room to spare. “Our bedroom is the biggest we’ve ever had, and the bathroom as well. It’s so spacious. The closet is my favorite part. I think I’ve said that about everything. I love every part of the house!” Kari exclaimed. Building a home means you get to design your own retreat, and for the Deeks, the sanctuary of their private space has been essential.

“From start to finish the whole process has been fantastic,” Kari shared. “We started in May of 2024, so about a year and a half from start to finish from signing the contract all the way through to closing. We had to split our property which took a while. There were so many little pieces and parts to that. But once Wayne Homes took over, it was pretty easy. It really was flawless,” she said.

Wayne Homes is here to help when the unexpected arises. “We had little hiccups here and there, which Kipp, our Field Manager, took care of and made right by us,” Kari said. “We haven’t had any issues since we moved in. We’ve been shouting from the rooftops, that we loved our process.”
