Homebuilder listens, learns, builds better homes.

October 13, 2011

Uniontown, OH – When a homebuilder’s claim to fame is an uncanny ability to customize any of its home designs, it’s safe to assume listening to customers is part of the culture. At Wayne Homes, it turns out they’re not just listening, they’re learning. Take the newly redesigned Yorktown floorplan. The three-bed, two-bath ranch has been completely refreshed, largely due to homebuyer input.

“First of all, at nearly 2,000 square feet, it’s bigger,” says Maurie Jones, Wayne Homes’ Vice President of Marketing. “But that’s not the primary reason the Yorktown is more spacious.”

Walls have been stripped away, opening things up. A raised bar now connects the kitchen and great room, and an exposed basement stairwell creates a brighter, airier transition. Now there’s not only more room, there’s a greater feeling of roominess.

Then again, other areas of the home have been redrawn to create more privacy. The master bedroom, with its large private bath and walk-in closet, now feels like a master sanctuary.

So all in all, the Yorktown has open spaces for big gatherings and quiet places to escape them. In fact, the entire floorplan is both more dramatic and more practical, with a foyer, a formal dining room (or den option) and added kitchen pantry. “Overall the Yorktown is more efficient with rooms that flow together more intuitively,” Jones says.”

“Our customers gravitate towards good ideas,” she adds. “And so do we, especially when they come from the customers themselves.”
