Wayne Homes nabs two big awards at International Builder Show

February 17, 2012

Uniontown, OH – Local on-your-lot homebuilder Wayne Homes picked up the Builder Partnerships Achievement Awards (BPAA) for Highest Distinction in Customer Satisfaction and the National Association of Home Builders’ Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE). Both awards were handed out February 7, at the International Builder Show in Orlando, Florida.

“Customer service is what makes us who we are. It’s kind of our thing,” says Mike Leckie-Ewing, Wayne Homes Vice President Organizational Development. “We go out of our way to make sure every customer is satisfied. So it’s extremely gratifying to be recognized for our efforts.”

The BPAA, one of the homebuilding industry’s most prestigious awards, means at least 93% of Wayne homebuyers would recommend them and enthusiastically refer a friend or family member to Wayne Homes.

The BPAA is an independent organization that measures customer satisfaction, lending credibility to claims of customer-centric service. “Customer service is a big part of who we are at Wayne,” says Leckie-Ewing. “It’s nice to have third-party confirmation on something we’ve been hearing from our customers for years.”

The co-first place SAFE award Wayne Homes earned represents the homebuilder’s commitment to maintaining accident-free jobsites. “It’s something our customers probably take for granted but we take safety very seriously,” says George Murphy, Wayne Homes Vice President of Construction. “Ultimately it’s about being careful. When you’re careful, you not only have fewer accidents you build better homes.”

The criteria for winning the SAFE award, in this case for a Single Family Homebuilder with more than 100 homes and fewer than 500 homes annually, includes: general safety and adherence to OSHA regulations; providing fall protection and personal protective equipment; ensuring electrical safety; monitoring excavation and trenching; ensuring safe stairways, ladders and scaffolding; regularly inspecting tools and equipment; implementing hazard communication; and enforcing the use of safety cards.

“We’re proud of our safety record and proud of this award,” Murphy says. “It’s something you win only when everyone on staff is doing their part. So everyone deserves to share in the recognition.”
