Whether your idea of the ideal homesite is several open acres without another house in sight or a familiar neighborhood that’s close to family and friends, here are a few starting points to help you find the perfect location for your family:
Neighborhood Finder: It starts with the Neighborhood Finder, our online map of popular neighborhoods. Our Neighborhood Finder includes driving directions so you can scope out each location, and contact information so you can find out about pricing, size, and availability.
Online Listings: Of course, your best research tool may be at your fingertips. Online listing sites such as Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com and Craigslist can be a great way to cover a lot of ground quickly in your search for a homesite.
Real Estate Agent: Real estate agents are also a helpful (but not required) resource for both finding the right homesite and negotiating a fair price. Your real estate agent may even know about land that is available but not listed online.
The Recorder’s Office: Have you found the perfect piece of land but not sure who owns it, or if it’s even available for sale? The Recorder’s Office can be a great resource to contact the owner and see if it’s possible to purchase the land.
