The 2025 Chili Open Raised More Than $362,000!
The Annual Chili Open is a very special event to us that is near and dear to our hearts. Every year, we proudly sponsor this fundraiser for the Akron Rotary Camp, a camp for kids with special needs in the Akron area. Why? Because this camp is a special place that we want to protect.
About Akron Rotary Camp
At Rotary Camp, campers are provided the opportunity to experience traditional camping activities, develop relationships, learn life skills and create memories that last a lifetime. When campers leave Rotary camp at the end of each session, they not only leave with lifelong memories and friends, but they often show more independence as well as a greater understanding of themselves and their abilities. 2025 Chili Open Presented by Wayne Homes
Wayne Homes has been sponsoring the Chili Open since 1993, and this year’s event was just as amazing as prior years. The 2025 Chili Open, presented by Wayne Homes, was held on February 1, 2025. This event was held on the grounds of Hale Farm & Village in Bath, Ohio from 9:00am–3:00pm.
The weather was mostly sunny and hovering around freezing–so it was a cold but beautiful winter’s day. Activities throughout the day included raffle ticket sales, a silent auction, a wheel spin to win prizes, snowy golf (of course!), putt putt challenge, Hole-in-One challenge, giant Jenga, Chili Eating Contest, “Arctic beverages” at the beer truck, a food buffet – including pasta from Lala’s in the Lakes and chili from Whitey’s Premium Chili, and a coffee & dessert bar.
Firepits were placed strategically to help people stay warm outside in the chilly weather. Despite freezing temps, the event was full of laughter and heartwarming stories. The 2025 Chili Open raised over $350,000 at the event, and after all funds were counted, the final total reached an impressive $362,098.
The full amount raised was announced at the Akron Rotary’s celebration luncheon on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The Wayne Homes team attended the luncheon along with the Akron Rotary Camp’s director, Mella Castner, and Jim Redmond, “Mr. Chili Open.” You can see this group holding the check with the grand total raised at this year’s event and grinning ear to ear.
How the Chili Open Helps
Everyone who participated in Akron Rotary’s Chili Open Golf Classic presented by Wayne Homes played a part in supporting more than 1,200 children and adults along with their families with a wide range of developmental and physical disabilities and mental health disorders through the day, overnight and year round respite camp programs.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve our community by sponsoring the Chili Open. The Akron Rotary Camp truly is a gem and we are proud to be stewards of this one-of-a-kind camp. Thank you to everyone who participated, both on the Wayne Homes team and in the greater community!
