Community Connection: Giving Back
‘Tis the season to be grateful, and what is gratitude without giving back?
At Wayne Homes, we always try to find ways to give back to our communities. Simply put: we love people. Our connections are what make our jobs so meaningful, and we know those connections need to be made both with our amazing customers, homeowners, and the greater community as well.
That’s a huge part of what so many of our team members love about Wayne Homes–our deep connection to the communities we serve. Throughout the year, Wayne Homes holds events to connect with the community, but recently our team came together to collect donations for our communities and give back to worthy local organizations.
And, because everyone loves a little friendly competition…we created a challenge to see which of the Wayne Homes Model Centers and Home Office departments could collect the most donations. From October 1 – November 15, the challenge is on! Ahead of the challenge results, each office selected the local charity they’ll be supporting with their donations.
Here are the worthy causes our teams are rallying around:
- Akron/Medina – Friends in Tents focuses on making the maximum positive effort for our community. Sharing resources with lower income families and Homeless communities.
- Ashland – Associated Charities provides food, emergency financial assistance, and necessities to those in need in Ashland County.
- Belmont – Youth Services of Wheeling offers residential services, community-based services and substance use prevention services.
- Bowling Green/Hartland – City Mission of Findlay offers a range of programs designed to address the holistic needs of our community. From addiction recovery to emergency shelter, our services are tailored to provide immediate relief and long-term support.
- Delaware – Family Promises of Delaware County‘s network of congregations and volunteers meet homeless families’ immediate needs for shelter, meals, and comprehensive support services.
- Home Office – Wednesday’s Child Nonprofit supports members of the community who are developmentally disabled as well as homeless and at risk youth.
- Newark – Storehouse for Jesus Food Pantry is operated by a group of local churches to meet the needs of those who are having difficult times.
- Pittsburgh – The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County responds to the ever changing needs of our county by working as a community matchmaker in the areas of grantmaking, community leadership and donor development. CFWC is committed to building better communities, now and forever.
- Portage – People Tree of Giving – People Tree Sharing Program is a charity that has helped our local families for over 30 years. One of the women who runs this nonprofit owns the company that does all of the cleaning at the Portage Model Center! So we have an extra-special connection to this organization.
- Sandusky – Care & Share Erie County helps qualifying neighbors in need by providing supplemental and emergency food, clothing, linens and housewares.
We’re so excited to be able to give back to the communities in which we build homes and where our offices are located. This donation drive is in addition to our annual Toys for Tots drive. So don’t worry– we’re still going to be helping out to make the holiday season a little brighter for kids in our communities!
And if we haven’t already said it enough–we are extremely grateful for you!
