Wayne Gives Back: More Than $11,700 Raised
At Wayne Homes, we believe every child deserves to have the happiest of holidays, and that’s why we partnered once again with Toys for Tots for 2022.
The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. Starting in 1947 as the brainchild of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, he and his wife Diane delivered handmade dolls to children in need. Now, Toys for Tots has grown to deliver an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually.
Wayne Homes, our customers, and the wonderful communities we serve came together to collect toys, starting early this year for our “Christmas in July” event. This event kicked off our Wayne Gives Back fundraising efforts for Toys for Tots and raised $903. Offices/departments donated items for themed gift baskets, such as self-care items, camping gear, and gardening goodies. Then everyone in the company had the opportunity to donate to Toys for Tots by purchasing raffle tickets to be entered to win the baskets of their choice.
The holiday Toys for Tots fundraiser kicked off on November 1 and wrapped up on Friday, December 7, 2022. We loved seeing all the friendly faces that stopped by our Model Home Sales Centers to donate gifts and catch up with our Wayne team. This holiday-season push raised $4,956.80. Our team definitely put the “fun” in fundraising, coming up with inventive ways to encourage others to give. For example, we played a “Guess Who?” game where baby photos of members of the senior management team at Wayne Homes were sent out to the company each day starting in mid-November. Anyone who donated to Toys for Tots had the chance to guess who the baby photo was and possibly win a gift card.
And, at the Home Office holiday party, there was a gingerbread house-making contest. Each team received one gingerbread house kit to start with. Then, more kits were available, as well as additional candy and decor options, in exchange for donations to Toys for Tots.
Finally, everyone had the chance to donate to Toys for Tots in exchange for tickets to enter a drawing for the grand prize – a Quest 2 Virtual Reality Set (donated by SolvedIT). Toy donations were collected at the Home Office as well as at our Model Home Centers.
To top off all our efforts, senior management at Wayne Homes matched all of the donations we’ve raised – which puts the grand total at $11,719.60!
We couldn’t be more proud of our team for making our Wayne Gives Back fundraising efforts a priority. Without the help of each team member and customer caring so much for others, we simply wouldn’t have been able to reach this goal. Thank you to all who contributed.
