Wayne Homes Gives Back: Toys for Tots 2024
‘Tis the season to give!
We believe every child deserves to have the happiest of holidays, and that’s why we’ve partnered once again with Toys for Tots.
It is better to give than to receive. That’s the message of the holiday season. It’s a time for reflection and gratitude, and for Wayne Homes, it’s also a time for giving back to the community.

Toys for Tots delivers joy through the gift of a new toy, helping to send a message of hope to economically disadvantaged children during the holiday season.
Starting in 1947 as the brain child of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, Toys for Tots has been bringing joy to children in need. Hendricks’ wife, Diane, had a few handcrafted dolls and asked Bill to deliver them to an agency that supports children in need. Now, the Marine Toys for Tots Program distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million children annually.
Did you know Wayne Homes partners with Toys for Tots throughout the year…not just during the holidays?
That’s right! We hold multiple fundraisers throughout the year to support this very worthy cause. In fact, this year Wayne Homes collected more than 150 toys for Toys for Tots.
Here are some of the events we hosted throughout the year:
Christmas in July
We hosted several fundraisers during our “off season,” including a company-wide raffle and a fun pet contest. Departments and offices across the company created beautiful gift baskets. The Wayne Homes team sold raffle tickets, and then raffled off the baskets to raise funds.
We then hosted a “cutest pet contest” where employees could submit their furry friends into the contest for a small contribution to Toys for Tots. It was one of the most adorable ways we’ve come up with to raise money.
Holiday Season
We ramped up our season of giving with several fundraisers leading up to and during the holiday season this year. At our company-wide awards event in November, we collected both toy and monetary donations and those who donated were entered to win a holiday-themed gift basket.
Another fun way we raised money for Toys for Tots was by selling Holiday Candy Grams!
For a small donation, employees could send a cute little candy gram to others in the company. Our IT department coordinated a football squares event, combining their love of the game and their support of Toys for Tots. At the Home Office holiday party, we hosted a Gingerbread House Contest with 3 winners (Most Colorful, Funniest, and Most Creative), also benefitting Toys for Tots.
Toy collections were gathered at the home office and at all of our Model Homes Sales Centers. Monetary donations were also collected. Our team was further motivated to donate because for each donation, they were entered into a contest to win an additional PTO day!
2024 Results
Between our summer fundraisers and holiday collections, we are thrilled to be able to bring joy to local children in our communities. This year, we collected more than 150 toys, and thanks to the Wayne Homes Senior Leadership Team graciously matching the funds raised, we were able to donate $7,000 to this incredible organization. We are so grateful to everyone who participated. The spirit of the season is alive and well!
