One of the best parts of building a custom home with Wayne is that you can take features from one of our many floor plans and incorporate it into another. One common customization we see is pulling the kitchen design from a certain layout and using it in a different one, or creating a blend of both kitchen’s features. Let’s take a look at the Montgomery and Alexandria floor plan kitchens, and you can decide which features you’d choose.
- More separation from the great room
- Closed hallway leading to the master bedroom
- No kitchen island
- More open to the great room
- Open (no hallway) leading to the master bedroom
- Large kitchen island
- Sink looking out the rear window
Many homeowners combine the two kitchens’ features, keeping the wall cabinets and pantry as is, but removing the wall between the kitchen and great room to do a large island, as shown in the Alexandria kitchen.
With the kitchen being the hub of family life for many homes, a large kitchen island is often on homeowners’ must-have lists. But, with a movement towards more traditional layouts vs. the more open-concept floor plans, having separation from the great room can often be seen as a big pro.
