Wayne Homes Testimonial: Meet the Kendalls on Instagram

The Kendalls built their Brentwood Family with the Wayne Homes Portage Model Sales Center in 2020. They have been posting about their build journey on their corner of the Internet, @buildthislovefromthegroundup on Instagram. We love seeing their updates from dig day to closing day, so we wanted to share their journey with you as well. There is truly no better Wayne Homes testimonial than walking in our homeowners’ shoes. You get to see their perspective throughout the Wayne Homes building journey, and that is the best way to learn about our process.

The Brentwood is a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home with 2,184 square feet of living space and a 2-car garage. The main-floor owner suite feels like a wing unto itself, helping to frame the backyard and a nice place for a sprawling deck or patio. The kitchen features a walk-in pantry and a large island overlooking the dining room, making the Brentwood an amazing home for entertaining. There’s a flex space off the foyer for a den, office, or playroom. Then, there are three great bedrooms upstairs so everyone in the family has a place to call their own.

The Kendalls customized their Brentwood by adding some extras to the exterior:

• Stone wainscoting across the front of the home
• Bump out and gable on the second floor above the front porch
• Stone on the front of the second floor bump out
• 3-1/2″ trim around windows to the front of home
• Basement walkout at the rear of home

Here are some of our favorite highlights from the Kendalls’ construction journey with Wayne Homes:

Dig day: June 16, 2020

Always such an exciting day! The kids set up shop, watching as the basement is dug and loved playing in the dirt piles.

Day 15:

Waterproofing is complete and a good-luck butterfly landed to bless the home.

Day 31:

The trusses went up and the house is really taking shape.

Day 51:

Concrete is poured and insulation goes in…getting closer!

Day 56:

Like slipping on a beautiful coat, the house got its siding on today and it’s looking so good.

Closing day: October 30, 2020

Getting the keys to their home is pretty exciting!

How it started/how it’s going:

The foyer during construction to now is a great reminder of how far the Kendalls have come with their home in a short amount of time.

Adoring the great room:

The Kendalls’ great room is simply great! Which part do you love best?

Designer chicken coop:

The Kendalls moved their flock of chickens into a chicken coop that rivaled the design of their Brentwood, called the “Coop DeVille”!

Puppy love:

The Kendalls added a new furry family member and they are all settled into their home as well.
