Akron Rotary’s 30th annual Chili Open honors Wayne Homes President and CEO, George Murphy, with Jim Redmond Ambassador of Service Award.
Uniontown, OH – Wayne Homes President and CEO, George Murphy, was awarded the Jim Redmond Ambassador of Service Award at the 30th annual Akron Chili Open on Saturday, February 2 at Hale Farm and Village.
The Ambassador of Service award was established in 1991 in recognition of a community leader who has gone above and beyond in support of the Rotary Club of Akron and Akron Rotary Camp. Murphy’s civic involvement centers around serving children, young adults, and families impacted by the Rotary Camp.
“The Rotary Camp is an organization that we very much value and appreciate, and something that is very important to me,” Murphy said. “The work that the Rotary Camp does in the community is one that really resonates with our employees and myself.”
Murphy joined Wayne Homes in 2003 as a Division President and in 2005 became Wayne Homes’ Corporate Vice President of Construction; and has since earned the company’s President and CEO titles.
Murphy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Saginaw Valley State University, Saginaw, Michigan. He and his wife Ann have four daughters and currently reside in Medina, Ohio.
