Homeowners Benefit from Wayne Homes Commitment to Energy Efficiency

July 1, 2009

Uniontown, OH – Wayne Homes was recently awarded the ENERGY STAR for Homes Leadership in Housing Award for its commitment to building energy efficient homes that are uniquely and collectively pleasing to the eye, the wallet and the environment.

ENERGY STAR certified since 1997, leading custom homebuilder Wayne Homes has led the charge locally toward ever more energy efficient homes.  The nearly 100 ENERGY STAR qualified homes constructed by Wayne Homes in 2008 are equal to the yearly equivalent of:

•Eliminating the emissions from 47.53 vehicles
•Saving 287,508 lbs. of coal
•Planting 78.57 acres of trees
•Saving homeowners $43,359 on their utility bills

“We’re happy to be a leading ENERGY STAR builder and to make a positive and meaningful impact in the communities our homeowners call home,” said Maurie Jones, Wayne Homes’ Vice President of Marketing. “We provide our homeowners with an array of standard and affordable optional energy efficient features and upgrades that have a positive environmental and financial effect, so everyone wins.”

Each of the company’s 36 floor plans is available with high performance windows, superior insulation and cutting-edge, energy efficient HVAC systems and appliances.  The homes also feature the Energy Smart Guarantee™, which essentially guarantees heating and cooling usage for a full two years.

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S.. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20 – 30 percent more efficient than standard homes.
