Wayne Homes Customers and Employees Support Charities for the Holidays

January 17, 2018

This holiday season, Ohio-based homebuilder, Wayne Homes donated more than $25,000 to charities on behalf of their customers and employees.

Uniontown, OH – Wayne Homes, an Ohio-based custom homebuilder that specializes in on-your-lot custom homes, announced their donation of $25,400 on behalf of their customers and home office employees, benefiting 28 charities, through the company’s Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness and Share-A-Christmas programs.

The Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness program began on November 27, 2017 and ran through December 31, 2017. For every home sold during the promotion, Wayne Homes donated $150 to the buyer’s charity of choice.

This year, over 80 families participated in the campaign. Donations were made to several charities, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project, and a number of local humane societies and homeless shelters.

“The Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness program is unique because it allows our customers to give back through the purchase of a new home during the holiday season,” George Murphy, President of Wayne Homes, said. “We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to collaborate with our customers and are happy to continue this program each year.”

Wayne Homes has held the Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness promotion for ten years and has donated more than $60,000 to charities.

Along with the Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness program, Wayne Homes employees also hold fundraisers in the office throughout the year to raise money for the Share-A-Christmas fund. Employees raffled off prizes, sold baked goods, designed and sold shirts, initiated penny wars, and held several other fundraisers to collect money.

This year, Wayne Homes adopted 21 children through Doylestown Share-A-Christmas and was able to spend $250 on Christmas presents for each child.

The remaining amount was donated to several Akron area charities, including the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, Haven of Rest, Project Homeless Connect, Medina County SPCA, Open M, Ronald McDonald House, Akron Rotary Camp, and Summit County Sheriff.

“Not only is it a wonderful feeling to help children have a Christmas that they otherwise wouldn’t have, but it is great to work for a company that is so supportive of it,” Stephanie Yates, head of the steering committee, said. “I look forward to this tradition every year and I am excited for the opportunity to continue helping people.”

Wayne Homes has raised money for the Share-A-Christmas program since 2009 and has donated more than $75,300 to charities.

The Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness and Share-A-Christmas programs are two of the many community involvement programs Wayne Homes carries out every year. Through the programs, Wayne Homes hopes to make a meaningful difference to those less fortunate during the holiday season.
