Wayne Gives Back: 2023 Toys for Tots Recap
At Wayne Homes, we believe every child deserves to have the happiest of holidays, and that’s why we partnered once again with Toys for Tots for 2023.
At Wayne Homes, we have a core value of giving back. And it’s even better when we can come together as a company to give back. That’s exactly why raising funds for Toys for Tots during the holidays is such a wonderful way for us to support the communities we serve. We get to enjoy each others’ company, see some of our extended Wayne Homes family, and know that we are bringing joy to local children. It’s truly a win-win situation that has become a beloved tradition.
Why Toys for Tots?
The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. Starting in 1947 as the brainchild of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, he and his wife Diane delivered handmade dolls to children in need. Now, Toys for Tots has grown to deliver an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually.
Wayne Homes, our customers, and the wonderful communities we serve came together to collect toys, starting early this year for our “Christmas in July” event.
This event kicked off our Wayne Gives Back fundraising efforts for Toys for Tots. Offices/departments donated items for themed gift baskets, such as self-care items, camping gear, and gardening goodies. Then everyone in the company had the opportunity to donate to Toys for Tots by purchasing raffle tickets to be entered to win the baskets of their choice.
The Wayne Homes holiday Toys for Tots fundraiser wrapped up on December 5, 2023. We loved seeing all the friendly faces that stopped by our Model Home Sales Centers to donate gifts and catch up with our Wayne team. Thanks to our Christmas in July fundraising efforts as well as the efforts throughout this holiday season, we were able to raise more than $4,000 to donate to Toys for Tots. We also collected more than 100 toys that will go directly to children to help make their holidays brighter.
Wayne Homes senior leadership graciously decided to match the donations we raised, which brought the grand total to more than $8,000 this year.
We appreciate everyone’s efforts and are thrilled for the opportunity to help families in our communities this holiday season.
